The pump - storage hydropower project takes advantage of the morphologically and geologically favorable conditions of the Koralpe for the production of peak energy.
The project is characterized by a hydraulic head of 600 m as well as by the possibility to construct all construction parts, except both reservoirs, underground in competent metamorphic rock mass of the Koralm. The energy produced can be fed into the existing 380 kV power line at the Glitzalm at the shortest possible distance.
Pump – storage project, capacity approx. 1000 MW, upper and lower reservoir, volume: 4.9 mio. m3, head of water: 600 m, headrace tunnel length: approx. 1.1 km, 2 surge tanks, vertical penstock, powerhouse- and transformer cavern, tailwater tunnel length: approx. 3.8 km, power evacuation shaft, access tunnels
