Geotechnical and tunnel engineering support as well as construction management consulting
The city of Dornbirn plans to extract up to 20³m/s of water from the Steinebach in the event of a flood and to feed it into the Dornbirner Ach. For this purpose, the construction of a relief pipeline through the Zanzenberg is planned, inner diameter DN 1900mm. The relief pipeline runs from the capacity building at the Steinebach to the introduction into the Dornbirner Ach in the underground and consists essentially of two construction phases. A 470 m long continuous excavation through the Zanzenberg and a 196 m long open cut section. These construction measures lead to a reduction of the amount of water in the Steinebach/Fischbach and thus to a significant improvement of the current flood situation in the surrounding area. For the continuous tunnelling area 5 mountain types are forecasted, colluvium and debris, loosened rock, marl clay sequence, alternating strata clay-marl-lime and marly lime sequence. For more than half of the tunnelling section the marly lime sequence is predicted.
