Semmering Base Tunnel, Construction Lot SBT3.1 – Tunnel Grautschenhof,

2 single track tunnels, auxiliary structures such as cross passages, shafts and construction facility caverns, excavated by drill & blast method (NATM)

Project:

CL SBT3.1 consists of the following construction parts:

• 2 single-track tunnel tubes, length approx. 6,8 km (track 1) and approx. 7,0 km (track 2)
• 14 cross passages, at a distance of 500 m as a maximum
• 2 shafts (Sommerau 1 and Sommerau 2), depth approx. 100 m each, diameter 14 m and 8 m respectively
• 3 caverns at the shaft bottom: cavern Shaft Sommerau 1, cavern Shaft Sommerau 2 and cavern Mürzzuschlag

Starting from both shafts, excavation of running tunnels by drill and blast method (NATM) is heading to the East towards CL 2.1 (length of both tunnel tubes approx. 3.7 km each) as well as towards the West in direction to the tunnel portal in Mürzzuschlag (length of track 1 tunnel: approx. 3.1 km, length of track 2 tunnel approx. 3.3 km.
